Melbourne Convention Centre - Melbourne, Australia
The Victorian Government announced in February 2006 that the Plenary Group consortium was the successful bidder to deliver this landmark economic asset. Financial close occurred in May 2006. The Centre boasts a 6 Star Green Star environmental rating, the first of its kind in a convention centre. Its feature Plenary Hall is a 5000-seat facility with a design that will allow it to transform into three separate theatre venues. As well as housing what will be Australia’s largest combined convention and exhibition facility, the project includes a new 396-bed Hilton hotel and a revitalised maritime precinct.
Plenary Group has also formed a partnership with Austexx, which will see the delivery of a 100,000m² of diverse and vibrant retail experiences, more than 3,000 car spaces and an office/residential building. The Melbourne Convention Centre opened on time and on budget in 2009.
